On the occasion of the COP 22 in Marrakech, the Farid Belkahia Foundation is organizing from 9 November 2016 at 6 p.m. at the Mathaf Farid Belkahia museum, an exhibition, "The Tree of Palabres", on the theme of the tree in the work by Farid Belkahia.
Ecologist ahead of his time, Farid Belkahia, from the beginning of the 70s abandoned oil painting in favor of natural materials and heavily used in traditional arts, such as copper and skin, which he will treat in a way exclusive, with natural pigments.
Fascinated by nature, Farid Belkahia could not do without such a fundamental theme. The tree, always stylized, will often take the shape of a square, a triangle, a cross or, more frequently, a circle.
If it was in 1963 that Farid Belkahia painted a forest for the first time, he will never again, throughout his career, return to the theme of the tree, which will be the subject of so much poetic studies, as philosophical and spiritual. His reverie of the tree will lead him into a dynamic of exploration where, step by step, he will question trees in all their dimensions, real but essentially symbolic.
